Gwaterpas

- You can select which of the 2 accelerometers to use (or use them both, but I'm not aware how exactly they are positioned)
- easy calibration: The program remembers 6 calibration values: 3 axis on 2 sensors.
- Any 3 axis for 1D levelling
- Any of 3 combined axis for 2D levelling

Did you mind that the first sensors is rotated by 45 degree around the z-axis? (see http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Accelerometer_data_retrieval)

This is such a simple and intuitive example of accelerometer usage, it's very easy to demo their usefulness to friends and/or laypersons...

Just needs a pretty icon ;-)

Pander wrote: (2009-01-16 18:46:42)
Really great! Could you also add an 80x80 PNG icon?

Nice 80x80 icon for this app:

Hi,

I just installed the tool and I like it. Although on SHR testing there was no launcher/desktop icon by default:
I had to change on line in
/usr/share/applications/gwaterpas.desktop
from
Categories=Utilities;
to
Categories=Utility;

Now (also using the above suggested icon) it fits neatly into the rest of my Freerunner.

Thanks,
semaphor

when installing on shr-testing 20090422 nothing happens when the neo is moved. looks as if the accelerometers are not talking to the program.

Bryan wrote: (2009-04-28 06:05:46)
it looks like this app uses the old accelerometer interface. It was changed a while back.

Laura wrote: (2009-05-18 22:32:08)
Is there any plan to update the program? I downloaded the source, and was thinking about updating it, but if the original author is already planning an update, there's no need for me to do it.... unless I want to change the colors of the graphics.... :D

i'm really looking forward to the next version of gwaterpas that allows me to run it on shr-unstable.. if anyone could provide a patched version i would appreciate that

vendion wrote: (2009-06-27 20:54:56)
Agreed having a patched or updated version that works with the new accelerometer interface would be great.

Rainer wrote: (2009-07-03 17:56:26)
Latest version in wiki is 0.3 and only 0.2 is here. But 0.3 also isn't working and the author seems not to be interested in fixing the accel bug. :(

Rept wrote: (2009-07-12 01:36:00)
Dead project, author does not want to make it work with latest kernels...

Mwyann wrote: (2009-07-27 18:43:47)
Working version can be found here : http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Talk:Gwaterpas

GarthPS wrote: (2009-08-12 21:54:21)
ok I did an ipk package with the binary of the wiki and had uploaded it.
So past the new lines in the top right corner and then gwaterpas will work with lastest kernel!
tested on SHR unstalble of 08-Aug-2009.
++

on shr-u 20091205

$ opkg install http://www.opkg.org/packages/gwaterpas_0.3.1_armv4t.ipk
Downloading http://www.opkg.org/packages/gwaterpas_0.3.1_armv4t.ipk
Segmentation fault

Wonka wrote: (2010-03-14 01:41:56)
on current shr-u, opkg doesn't segfault while installing 0.3.1, accelerometers do work fine.
