aGPSThis application sends your approximate location to ublox via GPRS or WLAN. In response, your phone is provided with details of the GPS satellites it should be able to see, greatly improving the Time To First Fix (TTFF).

This looks cool! Is the usage free and anyone can get an account? How does this work with GPRS on the road? Does it automatically try to connect or do you have to connect first manually? What happens if you run it with no connection, I suppose nothing happens?
Thanks, I'll try to look at it later. Nick wrote: (2009-02-06 23:38:02)
Risto: Registration is free, you just have to send an email to ublox (http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeRunner_GPS#u-blox_Assist_Now_account_application). I'd imagine if you had GPRS this would work as expected as all it does is connect to ublox and download some data.

Risto, Nick describes it as it is; registration is free, then you need to connect to the internet and enable the gps with this application. It fires up the gps and uses data from ublox to enable a much quicker gps fix.
I've packaged it up because i wanted some more people to try it. There was talk when it first became available that i was one of only 2 people to have ever tried it. And i saw it on the wish list on your blog ;-) RIsto H. Kurppa wrote: (2009-02-07 13:52:07)
joseph: WELL DONE!! I tried it and after starting GPRS it took about 19 secs for a fix of 0.8 - 1.2 (tangogps quality units :). It's a major improvement, I really like it. It downloads about 4K of stuff over GPRS so it isn't too expensive either (without a data package).

tested it with openmoko-agpsui
