Bright Player

Bright Player enables you to listen to random tracks from folders selected according to your mood quickly and easy. You only need to tap the Bright Player icon, select what kind of music to listen to and if you'd like to use the headset or the handset.
After this, the screen is faded and locked providing us good power to use our phone several hours.
To unlock it simply press the top-left part of the screen, then the bottom-left, the bottom-right and the top-right as follows:

This switches on the screen light and offers four new options: lock the screen, exit, a volume slider and a mute button.
Additionally, if you receive a call while using Bright Player it will exit.

Well, I agree with you that python is slower than C. But porting it to C will take time and I want to implement some features before releasing the stable version.

Additionally, interpreted languages are more flexible: you can change this and that without having to install a development kit so anybody can modify the software with a text editor.

Anyway, the heavier part, mplayer, is already compiled so using the right graphic toolkits should made it faster. Indeed, python-enlightenment performs better than pygtk, and if there's any python graphic toolkit faster than enlightenment and that offers similar functionality I'm ready to port the interface ;-)
